Product Review: Horse Shield by Purina

This was recommended to me a few years ago by the Purina Rep and I am not going to lie, my initial thoughts were skeptical. The front label had a list of promises, and the ingredients were fairly tame, nothing standing out - especially in comparison to so many “elite” high-end supplements I have fed over the years.

Well as it turns out, Horse Shield from Purina is a GAME CHANGER.  All my competition horses, lesson horses, as well as my client and sale horses all go on to this product.  It is the one product I will confidently recommend to everyone and anyone who owns a horse!

Here is a list of all the things I LOVE about HORSESHIELD:

  1. Cost-effective! For the vast array of issues resolved with this product, it is beyond reasonable in price point!

  2. Simplified solution: Having occasionally dealt with mild respiratory bleeding and more frequently, on multiple horses, “Tying Up” - this was by far the most effective aid in resolving both of those issues altogether. This allowed me to cut out a variety of other products I was using in an attempt to keep those issues at bay.

  3. Muscle Build-up /Function: horses have an easier time recovering after exercise, working through stiff or sore muscles after a hard day’s work, as well as maintaining a healthy muscle tone year round.

  4. Weight Management: For some of the easy keepers, this helps shed the excess weight and helps the hard keepers maintain a healthy muscle mass and body condition.

  5. Mental State: is it an official calmer? NO!  But all the horses I see go onto this seem to end up in a more relaxed state and handle stress much easier. I am sure, part in due to all the other benefits the horses are feeling.

Happy riding!
